Pickens County Public Safety
Project Summary
The new Pickens County Public Safety Building was developed to centralize critical emergency response operations and strengthen public safety services for the community. Located adjacent to the existing County Administration Building, the facility serves as the unified headquarters for the 911 Call Center, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Emergency Management, improving coordination, response times, and operational efficiency across Pickens County. Designed to support mission-critical operations, the public safety complex features advanced emergency communications infrastructure, specialized EMS training rooms, centralized fleet maintenance, and expanded storage for emergency response equipment and supplies. The state-of-the-art 911 communications center includes 12 dispatch positions with future expansion capacity for up to 24 positions, along with dual uninterruptible power systems (UPS), redundant telecommunications systems, and a 500 KW diesel generator to ensure uninterrupted emergency operations during critical events.
Designed by McMillan Pazdan Smith architects, the ground floor includes secure administrative offices for EMS and logistics staff, controlled storage for medical supplies and records, and dedicated areas for emergency management operations. Employee amenities include a full kitchen, breakroom, and shower facilities to support around-the-clock emergency personnel. The campus also houses five EMS vehicle and equipment storage bays, a Mobile Command Post, emergency response rehabilitation unit, emergency light towers, and backup power generators for critical facilities, creating a resilient and fully integrated emergency operations center built to serve the region for years to come.
